Doesn't seem to be plated. There was a deep-ish scratch on one side. polished it off without any signs of plating

If it’s solid gold should have a hallmark somewhere. Doesn’t look original

Need some better pics but I’m going to say that could well be a genuine buckle that’s been polished.

Will get some better pics.
It certainly is not a new or recent repop.
It looks like it’s been used a lot !
It’s worn in the right places to prove that it’s seen a lot of use.
It was also scratched up. Which I did polish.
Iv read the writeup on here about the omega buckles but that is by no means comprehensive.
That deals only with Swiss market buckles and by the looks of it, not buckles that are as old as the 1950s

@ceejay, this thread might help you in your research:
Thank you. That post seems to deal with newer production buckles and only Swiss market ones.
Rose gold in that era was marketed in other Markets more than the home market according to what I have read.

this one does say SWISS so unlikely from another market. A jeweler can quickly tell if its solid gold

Even if solid 18K, it is doubtful this is original Omega or Swiss. A Swiss made buckle would have a 0,750 hallmark and a maker’s logo.

The details on the logo are quite fuzzy, which indicates a cast copy.

No maker’s trade mark, marked 18-karat, and Swiss? I’d say fake! Almost every jurisdiction insists that if an item is marked gold (of any purity), the item must have a maker’s trade mark! The quality of the tongue isn’t what i’d expect to see on a genuine article.
