Hi all,

The selloff continues and this one hurts as well. Up for sale is a beautiful solid rose gold Rolex Bubbleback from the 1940s that was purchased by me from the original owner's family. The seller vaguely recalled the watch being sent to Rolex a long, long time ago. Based on my observation, it seems this is true since the dial and hands are Rolex service replacements often seen from the 1970s. The seller also mentioned that the watch was worn very sparingly and had sat unused in storage for a few decades before it was pulled out to be listed for sale.

Details

Case & Bezel:
Case and bezel are in solid 14k rose gold and remain in exceptional condition. Due to the long period of storage, one can start to see the formation of patina on the gold. Case is fully hallmarked and stamped.

Dial, Hands and Crystal: The dial and hands are tritium service replacements from the 1970s. They remain in very good condition. Aesthetically, they work well in my humble opinion. The acrylic crystal is likely a replacement owing to its condition and clarity.

Movement: Automatic, high grade chronometer rated calibre 9 3/4 super balance. It was serviced by my watchmaker last summer.

Summary: A rare and beautiful Bubbleback in a condition that doesn't come around everyday.
