Is this 165.024 SM300 dial variant legit?

I was watching an Ebay auction tick down last night on an SM300 that--to my eye--looked correct overall. But I started to wonder about the dial, which has slightly "pinched" closed loop on the 6 and 9. I did a bunch of googling and forum perusing and found this type of 6 and 9 on just one or two examples of the many, many images out there of this reference. By far the vast majority had 6's and 9's with much more "open" loops on the 6 and 9. So is this a less common variant? Or some kind of service dial? Or...?

Here's the Ebay one:

Here is the much more common "open loop" 6 and 9 dial:

Yeah pic isn't great and there were no pics outside the crystal, either. It's more a question of whether the "pinched" loop on the 6 and 9 is a typical style for these, as they seem to much less common, at least on casual survey...

This is the 2nd one I've seen in 24hrs with a 550 calibre movement. I was under the impression that these were fitted with either 552, 562, 565, 563 or 560 movements?

Calibre 550 is correct for a US market no date.

I maybe wrong but the only reference I can find to a 550 calibre is in the original Ref 17455 which was in the 50's. The calibre 560 was done for the US market (a 562 with reduced jewel count (something to do with reduced import tariff)

The 550 is correct for us market. Omega downgraded the movement to 17 jewels to avoid tariffs and called it the 550.

No opinions on the pinched 6 and 9, though? Genuinely curious about this...

6 & 9 also look more rounded than other examples.

The "pinched" should be confirmed - a picture with a clean crystal, or a polarised lens, or better of the bare dial could show that is OK. With these images, the feeling is that is normal and not fake.

The 550 was also used - look at this extract. (US delivered)

They are not closed. They are open. But the shape of the loop is different...

It's a legit dial - slightly bolder font with hooked serif on the 3, also look at the E in Omega, different to any normal 165.024 dial. Not common but also not rare, looks like it's in nice shape under that crystal.

Watch is legit, 550 is legit, "Pinched" 6 & 9 is legit, all is legit.
It's from the same batch as this one:

P.S.
I'm the one who won this eBay auction.
Seller cancelled the transaction on me without prior contact or any sort of communication just hours after winning (Maybe someone offered him more $$?)

That’s unfortunate @ndgal, it looked like a nice watch. Very disappointing when a seller cancels a transaction without a legitimate reason. EBay should come down on unscrupulous seller’s who don’t follow the code of conduct, but unfortunately that’s rarely done.

Guess, you won’t have a pair now......

That’s really disappointing when they do that sort of thing, hope eBay pull them up on it as the winner should be the winner.
