Ah the irony of life...what I hate about a Speedmaster is also what I love, The complex dial. I always have to spend just a moment too long to see what time it is. But I love working for it....

It’s 8:27

Wait, which sub-dial is moving, what is a tachymetere, lots of little stick things, where are the hands... this thing is pretty...let me look at my phone to see what time it is

How? Please let us know

There’s not enough room in a post to list all the ways that Omega is inferior to Rolex, and I can’t be bothered anyway. Figure it out yourself.

Pratts!
Will I B******S!!!

p.s. I like Snoopy too. And, by the way, my Timex Marlin Silver Snoopy is far superior to Omega’s Silver Snoopy (the gazillionth “limited” edition Speedmaster Omega has churned out, in case you’re as ignorant of those as you are of Rolex quality) and at a much lower price point too.

View attachment 849056 You know I too - have a vintage 1969 Constellation day/date, and I find as well the crown size to be a pain when it comes to setting the functions of the watch.
I too suffer the curse of large hands accompanied by equally big fingers ...and it does make it hard to feel the crown as I wind the watch. Being an automatic...
Thankfully once it’s going I’m set for a few days.
My particular biology, is not the fault of the watch of course...but it does make its use a bit of a challenge. It is a beautiful little gold capped jewel that I love to admire and wear on occasion.]

Of all my watches, my speedmaster professional 145.022 is by far the most dear to my heart. That doesn't mean I unconditionally love everything about it. Matter of fact, there are some things I kinda don't like about it:
- The 1171/633 bracelet. It jingles and rattles, it's flimsy and generally uncomfortable. It's amazing how much better and solid bracelets have become over the last ~20 years. Now I know I shouldn't judge a vintage watch against modern standards, but I simply don't like wearing it on a bracelet. There, I said it.
- I can't help it, but the 12-hour marker on any speedmaster dial looks like a cock & balls to me. Totally childish, but it's all I see when looking at it. Can't imagine I'm the only one seeing it this way. Also can't imagine no-one in Omega's design corps in 1957 ever brought this up during a staff meeting to then get ridiculed by their co-workers...

There should be micro adjustments on every watch omega makes with a bracelet
Absolutely. My only wish for my Speedmaster is that they add a clasp like the newest Seamaster 300m to the existing bracelet. An intermediate step would be addition of quarter or half links and increasing the # of micro-adjustments from 2 to at least 4, but the Seamaster clasp with instantaneous micro adjustments has really spoiled me, would have preferred a 20/18 taper as well(Seamaster), but it's a comfortable bracelet as is. Also on my short list is hacking for the Speedmaster.

Well now... we now all can see the Freudian 12 hour marker. (Probably for the rest of our lives) !
To be totally acccurate it should probably lean somewhat to the 2.5 minute mark.
Depending on your age! Hahaha!

D’oh! Let’s not turn this into a Freudian arms race. We’re even and I propose a truce. More of this and we let this beautiful forum descend into mayhem. With great power comes great responsibility. Open to start proceedings on a Freudian pact to make a concerted effort to rid the forum of Freudian jokes and transparently dismantle our Freudian arsenal. ::rimshot::

I find the crown on my Apollo11 50 year anniversary Speedy very awkward to grip when winding. Fortunately I've made a little gizmo I now use which makes winding a lot easier.

Tsk-tsk. Rolex watches are incredibly fine pieces. The troll will get no argument from me there. The reason I don't own a Rolex is that I live in an area where displaying bling is a daily hobby for many people. There are herds of guys wearing Rolex watches because they think Rolex is a status symbol that completes them. They know nothing about watches, but they know Rolex is high end so that is enough for them. They could have $2 Chinese movements in those things, but as long as the crown is on top of the dial they are good. I have run away from that scene and I refuse to get involved with those empty suits. I love my two Omega's, and I wouldn't trade them for a Rolex.
A nice pair which is hard to beat!!!

One thing I don't like about my Seamaster (2551.80) is how hard it is to manipulate the timing bezel. I don't dive, so I really don't have much use for it, but I still think it should be a lot easier to operate. I can't imagine trying to do so with wet gloves on.

Sometimes I wish the Connies had hacking seconds.
And maybe a little harder to pull the crown a stop too far and accidentally change the date, on the quickset date models.

Having a hard time finding a link for the bracelet on my 166.028 Seamaster. Or even getting a definitive identification of the bracelet.

I’m not convinced with the date window on this, just seems too small for my old eyes and just not that well done.

Same for all black date wheels- they are less intrusive and blend better but I can’t see them.
