Hmm. That's got me thinking, which is better a pineapple or an apple?

Apple. All day long.

Apple pie or pineapple pie? I think you know the answer to that.

How so?

This is always discussed, with more or less the same results. Especially considering a speedy on a nato is the clear winner.

But hey, I’m still reading/following it....

You will gain? Not necessarily at all. Second you know the speedmaster has out performed the Daytona in the mid term.

There is a reason no one is stockpiling new Daytona’s for investment, and it’s just not due to production constraints.
You will gain in the sense that it is quite difficult to find a Daytona readily available while a speedmaster is always available.
But,I think, we both agree on the merits of the speedmaster

Consider strawberries, melon, peach, apricot etc as well. Though and apple a day keeps the doctor away!

It’s quite easy actually you just need to pay over msrp to a 2nd or third party.

When Rolex stops constrained production or the markets starts to ignore this, the added mark up will disappear just like it did last time they did this with the Daytona. Granted there was technically a reason why production was low back then.

Don’t get wrong some Daytona are gorgeous my GF’s cousin has a meteorite dial that he modded with the new ceramic bezel and it looks great. I’d love a panda zenith powered one.

I just think for various reasons the worth more money argument is BS and I could write 3 pages on it. Additionally at the end of the day it’s readability is horrible.

I would say it's an easy yes. Plus.you don't get treated like dirt by the rolex salesperson which is priceless in my opinion

Speedmaster over Daytona/Cosmograph any day of the week. Omega makes beautiful watches with great looking variety, Rolex is stuck in the PAST. I love my 16610 LV, 16600 and Explorer 216570 Polar but Omega is truly the best. IMNSHO

Amen to that. They treat you like they would something thats stuck on the underside of their shoes.

Although there are exceptions like the representatives on Bond St; lovely people indeed and I nearly would have bought a timepiece from them. If they had any steel sports models in stock that is.

That's never been my experience...always treated courteously and respectfully every time I've been in a Rolex AD.

I was referring if you buy it at retail price (some may be able when they have a good relationship with their ads)
The readability of the speedmaster is excellent even on vintage ones and without glasses if you are wearing any....

Yes and no... even if you can source one you need to have the ability and resources to sell over MSRP. Most people do not. I’ve also found asking price is a lot higher then actual sales price on these.

Legibility: Speedmaster, hands down.
Cost: Speedmaster
History: Speedmaster
Iconic Status: Tie (subjective)
Accuracy: N/A
Toughness: Daytona (oyster case)
Movement: Daytona (auto)
If given to me for free: Daytona
Buying using my own money: Speedmaster 😀

Overall, Daytona is an awesome watch in its own right. The busy look just isn't my cup of tea. I'll go Speedmaster all day, everyday.
I think the movt. issue is also subjective. Some will prefer a MW.

If you can get a Daytona at retail? Of course not lol. The Daytona will instantly be worth double what you paid for it in terms of 'value' which was your question
