Is the new Seamaster too heavy?

I have a white gold Rolex Daytona on leather strap, and I love the weight but unlike a watch like the Seamaster on a stainless bracelet, all the weight is in the watch head. Whereas on the Omega it's more distributed...

Just to clarify, I don't think the Seamaster is too heavy, it's just a little heavier than I would like it. The 2017 Seamaster weight is what I like more.

I don’t think that weight is an issue with the 2018 model. It’s the overall bulkiness and thickness of the new version. That’s why I opted for the 2017 model. I also find the 2017 version to be more stylish, but that’s just my personal preference. I do like the calibre 8800 movement in the new model though.

After wearing my watch for several days, I can confirm that for me, a man of 6 foot 1, 205 pounds that the watch is a little heavy. The 2017 watch was much more comfortable on the wrist all day it's similar to my Tag Heuer. There is more pressure on your wrist and only after wearing it for several months will I be able to determine if it's a non-issue.

I’ve been wearing my new 2018 Seamaster for the last week. It’s def heavier than my citizen titanium dive watch but I don’t think it’s too heavy. For reference, I am 6’1” and 185 pounds.

I think it might be a little more comfortable if I switch it to a NATO strap or rubber strap. I’m gonna keep on a bracelet for a few more weeks and see how it goes. I’ve also noticed when I keep it little more snug it’s less noticeable and not much of a problem. When the bracelet is a little bit looser it kind of flopped around on my wrist and does seem a bit bulky.

I'll weigh my LE when I get home from work and post the results. I'm curious how many grams it is...!

Here is the weight of the SMP 300m LE. It does not feel heavy at all on my wrist!

It's so light because it lacks the date wheel 😁

I don't think it's that heavy .However it is relative to what you are used to.

Sorry to dig this thread up. Do you happen to have the weight on the rubber strap also?

I never forgot when I worked down by Wall Street a guy had a 24k gold Rolex date watch. It was a gift from his rich wife but he wasn't crazy about it. He said it was so bulky and heavy and he wished the watch was a little smaller and that it weighed less.

Recently when I compared the old Seamaster to the new one I was surprised how much heavier the new one was.... and of course it is bulkier as well. It reminded me of my co workers complaint about his Rolex. I like the lighter blue, being able to see the mechanical parts on the back, and the waves on the new Seamaster. But with it being bulky and heavier, it reminded me of my friends complaint about his Rolex.

Owners of the new Seamaster, do you find the watch a bit too heavy to wear all day long?

I have a fairly small wrist and wear my Seamaster 300M 24/7. Once I found the sweet spot by working with the clasp adjustment and half links the watch feels completely natural. Most of the time, I forget I'm wearing it. That being said, I'll admit it felt heavy until the combination of fine adjustments and wearing habits dialed it in.

Good point yes it is heavier but ive got used to it after having the prev seamaster and a sub eventually you forget its there. I had a d-blue for a while and that was ridiculous like a hockey puck sat on your wrist

Nope, not really, IMO, especially on the rubber strap. My main diver is a Doxa 1500T II, which clocks in just shy of 220g on the bracelet with a few links removed, and yet is very comfortable even on my relatively puny wrist -- more so, in fact, than my 2018 SMP Diver on the steel.

My conclusion, after living with the SMP on its bracelet for a few months, was that it's the fit rather than the weight, for me anyway. On the OEM rubber it's one of the most comfortable watches I own.
