This is part of a learning process.

Is it legit for an Omega Seamaster 300m, model reference 166.024 to house a caliber 550 movement, instead of the usual 552?

Thank you.

The correct reference for a non-date Omega Seamaster 300 of this generation is 165.024, not 166.024. And yes, the 165.024 did come in a 17 jewel version for the US market as per Omega.

If the caseback really says 166.024, then it is likely a frankenwatch with a replaced movement, or a Watchco remake with a factory replacement case and remanufactured movement.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your response.

Sorry, it is an oversight on my part. You are correct, it is model reference number 165.024 and not 166.024. I appreciate the correction and also the advice, such a watch is legit.
