Is it just me? Can you spot it too?

It could be that the angle is not correct but do you notice anything about the 6th index?
Alignment is out a wee bit.

I can't help but think about the parallax effect. Could it be due to the angle at which you are viewing it? Or, one eye sees it misaligned while it looks aligned to the other? To me, it looks aligned!

Looks off to me, but did not spot it till you pointed it out. Better pic would help and it's only marginal. But what I don't understand is, it the same dial? If so I'm.sire it came out the way it went in

The out of sync minute and second hand would bother me more.
That's also what I noticed. If the seconds hand is at the top, why is the minute hand in the middle of the minute marker? I'm unfamiliar with Rolex watches, so I wasn't sure if that was normal or not.

I've even been known to use a loupe to get it just right...clearly I have issues.

Does anybody have a similar problem? Because its not as obvious on the picture as it is in real life! The watchmaker says it supposed to look like that? I dont know really? a watch that costs 9000 dollars should be flawless...
I think it is the shadow to the left of the indice. If light is hitting from right above it should look ok...

I agree. It has to do with the three-dimensional aspect of the marker. These 3 photos show a representation of the situation. The green thing is like your marker and the red dot the crown. I took these three pictures by only moving the camera and nothing else was moved. Notice that dot is aligned in the straight on shot, but appears to be off center in the same way even when taking the picture from two different sides.

An optical illusion would look different in different lighting & different angles, & your mind would quickly come to terms with it.
If the watchmaker really said what you wrote above, it implies he sees it.
Try taking a few photos from directly above, with different lighting. The current shot is mostly lit from one side, & the shadow makes it harder to judge.

As crazy as this sounds. According to some manufacturers a watch that costs $9,000, in some case should only look flawless from (IIRC) 3' or arm's length away.

If you want flawless closer than arm's length or maybe under a loupe the cost of the watch typically goes up considerably.

No man made object is flawless. Most dials have some sort of geometrical flaw(s) from stamping and printing. You are obsessing over nothing.

I must have similar issues. 👍 I haven't used a loupe (great idea, BTW) but I will definitely go through several attempts (if needed) to get the minute and seconds hands aligned.

I guess to clarify, shouldn't the minute hand be on the line vs. in between the line?

Well... that's up to how well you manually align the minute hand when you set the time. The watch doesn't do it... If you leave the minute hand in the middle and start the seconds at 12:00, then it'll always be off by half a minute.

Minute hands don’t jump when you set them. So you need to do it when you set the watch. Normally you also need to back it a bit to remove slack.

I’m not picky when I set watches.
