John, welcome. Without knowing where you are, The crown you need is listed on ofrei - search this page for your reference number: http://www.ofrei.com/page_147.html I suspect cousins would also have it. Although replacing a crown is not especially complicated, it's possible to mess up removing the case back, releasing the stem, removing the stem from the existing crown and each of the steps in reverse. I'd strongly recommend popping the watch and crown into a local watchmaker (not the guys in a pod in the mall) and asking them to perform the operation. Al was taking about quartz, but I like This post on pro standards: http://omegaforums.net/threads/battery-discharge-from-omega-watch.16324/page-3#post-179163 Do you know when it was last serviced?
Thanks for the reply Mothra -- appreciate your help. I will take it to a local watchmaker. The person I bought the watch from told me the watch was serviced 2 months ago, so I'm taking his word for it.. Is it possible to determine whether the watch has been cleaned/oiled properly from opening up the watch?
I cant.... some of the more senior members can, but you can see from this post that even some of the long held 'serviced tests' are contentious. http://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-omega-for-daily-wear.17460/#post-188904
