I'll be sure to console your wife after you pass, and ensure its well taken care of 😗
Reminds me of one of my favorite lines that resonates with all of us "collectors": Somebody pease make sure not to let me wife sell the items from my collection for the prices I told her I paid for them.

Thanks @Zuke ! What is the otrher strap you mention ?
I will post pictures some time, yes - the watch was passed on by my father who bought it in 71, at the beginning of his medical studies. A great chrono for a doctor !

Great news, I received the strap from Bulang & Sons, and it looks great ! See some quick snaps below, I'll post more when I get a chance to take better pics.
Thanks @Zuke and @Baz9614 for your input.

Does anyone know what was the original (catalog) price for this watch when it came out in 1971 ?

I'm very pleased to share with you my latest acquisition.

You really don't see these come up for sale very often, so when I found one for sale a few months ago I had to have it.

The pictures simply do not convey the beauty of this watch. In my opinion it's the nicest looking of the vintage Zenith El Primero's. I can’t help but find myself staring at it for longer than I care to admit.

Now here is the crazy part of this story. About a month ago luck was in my favor one more time and I purchased a second A3818. Yes, two A3818's in a matter of 3 or so months. I feel like Hugh Hefner with a Cover Girl on each arm so to speak.

For those who may be interested I’ll be posting one of them FSOT in the next day or so. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to trade for another grail piece.

This is the one that I'll be posting

Very nice. I am going to pm you.....

Thanks for all the kind words.

It's a little strange that this thread is seeing some new replies. I started this thread in 2016, seems so long ago. I still have the A3817 and one of the A3818s. I'm actually wearing the A3817 right now so I just took a quick pic (looks like I need to update the date).

I have an extract of a 1969 catalog (the A3818 is not shown as it came in 1971-1972). An A386 cost 590 swiss francs and a A384/A385 cost 560 swiss francs (nowadays 1 swiss franc = 1 USD). 50 years ago USD was much much stronger.... so it is hard to compare
