My apologies. I didn’t check my notes thoroughly. There was a SM300 165.024 CB, 1116/575, Speedmaster caseback listed in Japan in January with a less attractive bezel. Would that be yours?

What’s your purpose to trace where I bought it from? What’s your intention? I don’t get it

I didn’t need to trace your purchase. I follow both SM300s and the Japanese Omega market rather closely. I own a few too.

Regarding this example, I had discussions with another member a month before your original post. While it was still for sale. As you stated that you had changed the bezel, there is certainly no harm in posting a pic of the watch with it’s original bezel.

Why so thin skinned regarding your barn find SM? Barns exist in Japan.

Lineage of watches is discussed rather frequently in a watch forum. I don’t think I disparaged your watch in any way. I didn’t mention the price you paid. Why the outrage?

——- I didn’t ask for that. Good to know you own a few. Thanks for the information but no thank you.

——- And your point again? You already know the source. Good then. What has it got to do with me or anyone? and what’s your point? Do you have to tel me that you know your neighbour watered his plants everyday?

——— Thin skinned? Don’t judge. Quickest way to lose any credibility. Don’t get emotional.

Lineage of watches is discussed rather frequently in a watch forum. I don’t think I disparaged your watch in anyway. I didn’t mention the price you paid. Why the outrage?

——- Which part sounds like outrage to you? I merely asked you what’s your point? And still don’t understand your point. Showing that you know the source? And so? Is that a big deal? What’s your point of showing others where I bought my watch from? Do you have to show everyone every member where their watch is from? Do you think everyone likes that? Perhaps a little respect or privacy would be appreciated?
What makes you think I personally like my purchase to be shared publicly? Do you think you will like it if I shared with everyone where you bought yours? Or perhaps, is there a need to?

Have a good weekend. I’m not going to spend any more time replying on things that has no value or whatsoever.

And after I shared points on how original lumes etc when you asked, (on page 1) I don’t see how you cannot be polite and nice enough to say a simple thank you.

And you have to discredit right immediately with an opinion that if this caseback is stamped with something else, it will be cooler.

Imagine I show off my baby photo and you have to say, imagine your kid has bigger eyes, sharper nose, he will look better. To the same effect.

What’s your issue really?

Doesn’t have to!

Glad you enjoyed the initial post (which was meant to be educational & informative, until some party crasher bumps in).

Enjoy!

Just read this thread for the first time. As others have said it’s a really interesting anomaly, and great that Omega can verify it with an extract. But regarding the later posts, to be fair, you did clearly state yours wasn’t from eBay. If that was the case it might have been interesting to know that your seller had bought it from there. That was the scenario I imagined whilst still on page 2.

I do believe the Watch had always been in Japan (since it was from Japan Yahoo auction) and the watch was Originally delivered to Japan.

And knowing the closed Japanese market (and the seller), and the state the watch is in, high possibility that the watch has never left Japan and always has been in there. But without solid evidence (which I don’t think there’s any need to investigate or any lead I can investigate), this remains a hypothesis for myself.

I always find it interesting when questions about watches prompt ad hominem responses.

Ad hominem response was made in a speculative manner.

What I find it more interesting is, what’s the point in Gemini4 post? Why it started negatively when this post was made? And which part of his post made any constructive statement?

This is all beyond me. But it’s fine.

I think we are going out of point. Let’s end this.

I am not going to reply any other comments unless it’s watch related. There’s simply no point.

Let’s not pull each other hair over the weekends.

After many years of frustration of looking at the wrong case back , I found what I needed to bring it back into line.

What's wrong with asking? Jeez.

I wonder if the use of a Speedmaster marked case back could be intentional for the Japanese market, maybe it was a better seller in Japan around the time of the moon landing. Maybe the Omega agent for Japan asked for it and no one remembers. Those watches were made in Switzerland, so I don’t see any logical explanation why they would be only found in Japan. With time Omega lost traces of the decision or demand and called it an error. Now this is totally hypothetical and I have no clue, just imagining...

Isn’t there an original owner on this thread (who purchased elsewhere)?
