Correct case back Seamaster 300?

Hi, according to Arne Rasmussen early models have rounded edges while later ones have sharp edges. Question is what the timespan is to be regarded as early models?

I've seen SM:s from 64-66 with HF casebacks(sharp edges).
Imho, if Omega used HF and CB casebacks within various time periods an early SM with HF caseback would be correct.

Thanks.

You might want to use some photo's to illustrate your point/question. I for one don't understand what exactly it is that you are asking...

Basically I would like to point out that an early SM could have a sharp edged case back and still be correct since there was two companies commissioned for the production. Have a look at Arnes blog about case backs. There you can see the differences. And imho I think the difference, edgy dubble steps vs. round edge is more attributable to the manufacturers rather than earlier or later models within 62-68.

I don't think I've ever seen a definitive roundup of SM300 cases vs. production date/serial number. This seems like a good opportunity for original research! There are many threads on the SM300 on this forum; why not spend some time searching for posts with photographs of serial numbers and casebacks, log them in a spreadsheet, and report your findings back here?

I suspect that @Vitezi may be in the education field. 😉

Yes of course, although the pics in the link shows the difference. However, I just found it a bit odd that Arne, whom has very good knowledge about vintage SM:s, did just mention early and later time periods and not taking into consideration the possible difference in shape between HF and CB casebacks. A correct answer, if possible? is always a plus avoiding frankens. I wonder if anybody with good knowledge about it could reply. As part of my own research I havent been able to trace an answer regarding this matter so far. Thanks
