Interesting 1954 Vintage Omega

I am reviving this thread only to mention for posterity that another one of these

CHAMPIONNATS DU MONDE 1954

2577 18k Seamasters came up at auction here. At my request the auction house sent me additional pictures which I am not including since I have not asked for their consent. But I have ascertained that the inscription on the back is the exact same as the one in the OP and my own watch above. The dial of the auction watch was also evidently originally the same as mine and has been redialed since. Here is the published picture and also the catalogue entry published by the auction house with an interesting remark as to provenance:


Instead of my watch's 351 movement the auction watch comes with a 354 movement (No. 13240925), but based on the additional pics I suspect the movement could have been exchanged or the cal. number re-engraved or changed at service (probably by Omega themselves who I suspect might also be responsible for the redial) because it is (laser?)-engraved together with a modern-version Ω. The watch went unsold, not surprisingly taking into account the redial and heavy polishing.
