Your watch is very much worth having repaired.
I’m presuming the case is SS and it only looks gold coloured in the pics?

the case has seen some polishing but I would say your watch is worth at least $1200 and should be insured for $2000

You certainly need to find out what it is that the watchmaker is doing for $500.
Eg Which parts need repairing.
A standard service should include a new mainspring and gasket but no other parts.
You keep referring to a dealer - are they a dealer or a watchmaker?
Or are they a dealer sending it to a watchmaker and adding their bit on top of the service charge?

FYI
You have a ref.168.005 stainless steel cased Constellation with pie pan dial and (likely) a cal 564 movement with quickset date.
This date complication can break and it may be this that requires repair.
if you can get the movt serial number from the watchmaker.

the instructions to your watchmaker should be:
No polishing of the case (sonic clean only)
Service and regulation of the movement
If you have the opportunity, replace seconds hands and crystal.
Only use genuine correct Omega parts throughout

these particular crowns are not available new, so if you value originality, ask to retain the crown (but this will prejudice moisture resistance. )

hope that helps

Since you live in Sweden, I can say that a similar steel pie pan dog legs Constellation sold for 10.000 SEKK yesterday on a Swedish auction platform. It, however, had a re-dial and engraving on the back so yours would be worth more IMO.
That was a total frankenwatch, it was not just simply a redial. I know that Robin Israel does solid work with Omegas, he is based in Germany, but the waiting list is really long, maybe 4 months.

Oh! - that watch!
I can’t believe that piece of sh*t sold for almost $1200

Thanks a lot for your thorugh reply! The case is gold coloured, I am not sure if it is solid gold or plated but I assume it is plated. Excuse my language. I think I mean watchmaker when I keep saying "dealer", the people at the store are fully capable of servicing the watch themselves. I will try to get as much information as possible tomorrow. I will be very clear with those instructions! Did I understand the part about the cost correct that for 500$ there should be other parts in need of replacement other than the mainspring and gasket?

500$ seems very expensive to me for an automatic movement.

There is a watchmaker in France who’s well regarded on the forum and used by several members,
he accepts new clients from the EU due to Brexit making it now difficult to work with British clients, his name is Rob Horan and his website is below.

$500 is actually a very good price, from my perspective. That estimate likely includes all of the parts your watchmaker knows need to be replaced. Also remember this is a chronometer and a chronometer takes extra time and effort to return to original specification. You have to make damned sure that you're getting back a watch that runs to chronometer specification and not just "it's an old watch, we don't expect it to keep time."

When someone says the price is expensive... ask what you get for the price you're paying.

Thank you! I prefer not having to send the watch to France but depending on what they tell me tomorrow I might consider this.

this may change matters significantly.
You may have a solid gold dogleg case.
which would make sense of the side facets on the lugs.
One lug looks like gold cap but the one above it looks like it may have a hallmark. (see below)

if gold cap, it is worth less than a SS watch.
If solid gold it will be worth significantly more.

best find out from your watchmaker tomorrow.

From my understanding the 500$ includes costs related to the movement. Then I need to replace the crystal and preferably the seconds hand as well. I will make sure I understand tomorrow what is covered in that 500$.

Absolutely! My dad has suggested that it might be solid but I really have no idea.

Are you using actual US Dollars or Kroner or ?

Crystals aren't very expensive. Neither is a second hand. And do ask if your watch will be adjusted to original specifications.

By the way, anyone else have this model? I believe it should have a "silver" tension ring on the crystal?

I am roughly converting the price I was quoted in Kronor to US Dollars. He said 4500-5000 SEK which roughly translates to 500$.

So if the inside is gold it is solid and if it is silver it is SS?

Ah, good to know. You'll always find someone here who says they pay less. I always wonder what you get. I pay more, and I've never regretted it, because my watchmaker has come to see that I get better results when he spends a little extra time adjusting.

silver on SS
Gold on gold cap and solid gold.
You're sure? I've had "silver" tension rings on gold watches before, based on the dial...
