Infos on the ref 16500

Hey!
I’ve come across this seamaster that seems to be in amazing condition! It’s powered by a cal 552 and the dial is flawless.
The caseback is stamped 16500 and I cannot find much about this odd reference, was it made for a special market and branded with an other ref elsewhere?

Additional info : case is a 36mm and serial à 20.9M (so from around 63)

Any idea about the ref? I’m trying to find infos on the model but can’t seem to find anything for « 16500 » (and there is definitely no extra number although the caseback pictures is very blurry :/)

Looks like a 165.001 or 165.002 but they’re 34mm.

Hmm, looking at these references, they indeed look a lot like!
But on the other hand this one really has « 16500 » stamped inside the caseback, no « . » or extra number…I should try to see it again and measure the case…

No idea…It’s not a watch I own, it’s one I was offered.
And the owner confirms it’s a 36mm, not a 34
