Information on my great grandfather’s watch

Hi all, first time poster here. I was just hoping to get some more information on this watch. Specifically the type of watch, possible valuation (keeping it but would love to insure it as a family heirloom) and just generally learn more about it. He was a coach for Texas A&M at the time I believe, and it’s a really cool piece in my opinion. Just wanted to get to know more about the watch and the history I guess without having to have it opened up, as the nearest watch specialist is 2 hours away. Thanks!

10k gold-filled commemorative no-name autowinding-Omega. It doesn't have any particular model name, and I guess you already have a pretty good estimate of the year of production. If you ever get it open, post photos of anything you see inside.

You know, it’s funny you mention it because I did google it first and a different watch from the same bowl game came up instead, and that post was not informative, however this one had most everything I was curious about. Thanks for sending that my way!
