Information about inherited watch

Hi
I have inherited this Omega watch. It was my fathers. He worked for the MOD his entire life on Radar. He was one of the boffins working on Radar in WW2.
He wore this watch all his life (that I remember). But I never asked about it.
I am afraid I know little so am blatantly asking for any information you can provide. To fill in any background information.
As you can see it is well worn. It still goes - but are the luminous dots radioactive?
Should I consider getting this serviced and the glass cover replaced? Or should I leave it with its character.
Thank you in advance if you can provide any information.

Good example of an 1956 re cased ( in a stainless steel Denisson case ) RAF issued 1942 pilots/navigators WW2 Watch. These had alloy middle cases, that deteriorated after the War. But movements still were first class in most watches, so a few kept their white dials and blued hands and most ( Like yours) got black dials with Radium and the blued hands were covered in Radium as well. Most of the time in that wonderful green Radium paste.....very nice watch. I have one with the original white dial. Polish the crystal. They have a lip and are screwed in with a threaded ring from inside. Kind regards. Achim

Look after it and wear with pleasure as a great heirloom. For interest, one of these sold at auction this week for £1700 + fees.
