Can anyone tell me if this is a legit model from Longines?

As shown, the dial looks very similar to the Heritage 1945 that is currently available from Longines. However it does not have a sub-second dial as the modern version does.

I also couldn't find any vintage Longines models that looked like it on https://vintagewatchresources.com/ that is the most extensive Longines online source I've seen . There are a few that are close but not exact.

The watch is redialed, minute and hour hands do not belong together. The center second movement dates the watch around 1947 and the case design with scarab/teardop lugs could also be dated in this time-area. Possible that many watch parts were put together to have the watch completed.

I agree that the dial is a redial. I believe though, that the hands go together and the minute hand appears to be damaged...maybe squeezed too hard with tweezers roughly in the middle of the hand. The tips and the ends closest to center appear to have the same taper to them.

The serial number on the movement also agrees with your date estimate but I can find no reference to a 'caliber 119' on the website above or on the bidfun archive site. Perhaps the movement is another number and the seller has the wrong number listed.

The case and lugs are the two best reasons I like the watch. My primary conceren though was this ever a watch sold with this dial and case combo or is it a frankenwatch?

https://vintagewatchresources.com/ is almost exclusively for Longines US catalog from the 1940’s through the 1960’s.

This watch does not look to be a US model, so I’m not surprised that you can’t find it there.

Case and movement look correct for the period, but the dial is not close to correct and the hand just don’t look right to me.

Because it’s an oversized case, it’s worth a premium. Fairly priced at current bid, but I suspect someone will over bid on this one.

Hard to say if the minute is damaged or something. These feuille hands are nice, when a watch is restored like that, the hands should have a similar look. The number 116 is a batch number within a reference. 3574 is maybe the reference, but there are no results in the web about that. The caliber is a 12.68N I think.

I agree that the movement is one of the 12''' sweep second movements: 12L, 12.68N, 12.68ZS.

There's another Longines for sale on Ebay with the same hands and dial as the watch that started this thread.

The only thing that appears to be different is the case lugs. The identical hands on two different pieces lead me to believe that they're a matching pair. I'd love to know if they're genuine Longines.

No, they are not matching and sweep second hand is not original and too short.
