·I don't think I'm overstating when I say this is an incredible find: a solid 14k gold 1950s Seamaster with all the fixings!
I was able to buy this from the original owner's daughter. Yup, this is a one owner. As you'll see in pics, it was gifted to her dad when he retired in 1961, and she only remembers him wearing it a handful of times on special occasions before putting it into a safe. I picked this up for a local collector friend, but he's about to close on a house so sadly (for him!) asked me to offer it to an Omega collector, so here we are!
Into some pics... okay, A LOT OF PICS, but I think all will agree this is worthy!
When I say full package, I mean FULL PACKAGE! I've personally never seen one from the 1950s survive intact like this, it's just really cool!
34mm (actually calipers measure 34.2) and wears VERY well with those fat lugs and the weight of that sweet gold.
The case is CRISP! A beautiful thing to see, especially in solid gold:
Yup, that's an engraving on the back, showing it was gifted it to him in 1961.
For those research nerds like me, found this (showing the company went bankrupt about 13 years after this... maybe gifting too many gold Omegas???)

Original crown, and I even think the springs bars are original!
Only thing replaced that I can tell is the crystal. The owner's family said it had been in storage so before selling they took it to a watch maker to ensure it was working and he put on a fresh crystal. The strap had also deteriorated, so I found a NOS strap and buckle to fully do this beauty justice:
Now for pics of the stunning cal 500:
Serial number dates it to approximately 1958 or 1959.
I've worn it briefly (and CAREFULLY) around the house on a different strap to preserve the NOS one. It sets beautifully and keeps really good time, that being said the hand winding is stiff, and I didn't want to force anything. As always with vintage, especially a one owner piece like this that hasn't been touched in decades, a fresh service is recommended for regular use.
This is tricky to price, really no complete package comps in solid gold I could find as of late. Asking $2400, which will include fully insured shipping anywhere in the US.
Payment via PayPal Friends and Family, Venmo, Zelle, or Wise.
No returns unless misrepresented and it will not be! I am a collector and I treat buyers the way I want to be treated when I'm the buyer!
I think this is a pretty rare find and I REALLY want this to stay in the OF Family! (So I can at least see wrist shots of it in the what are you wearing thread...)
Thanks for looking, and thanks to OF for the space.
