Too many they aren’t.
Baby a vintage gold constellation ! Well probably not as I am already only wearing it out for dinner or to a show and the hardest thing I’m doing is getting up from sitting down.
Rolex sub or this watch I’m all in, beach, boating, hiking.

Wearing a Speedmaster to work each day every knock and bump I enjoy as it’s part of my everyday watch make a vintage watch myself experience. ( I don’t go out of my way to beat it but I don’t shy away from doing anything because I have it on )
I wear my Speedmaster 3570.50 a lot and don’t worry about it because it’s easy to replace. I wear my Ti Planet Ocean 9300 a lot because it’s tough as nails (and why I might buy my Ti 8500 back). The Ti 9300 might be harder to replace because I see so few used ones up for sale or being worn in the forums, but they’re out there and not at an insane price. I’m not a huge fan of the current Ti model’s grey and orange color scheme if I had to replace it with that, but I would do it.

Anyway, I think my problem with sometimes being afraid to wear a watch is mostly the replacement issue/factor. The harder I have to work to acquire a watch, the more worried I am about wearing it in case something bad happens. I can maybe make a common but expensive watch my insurance’s problem - but it’s a bigger problem when a replacement is so hard to get.

I would continue this statement by saying the more worried I am about wearing a watch, the less enjoyment I get out of the experience. That’s mainly why I intend to stick with my Omegas.

But to be fair, in reading your posts, you are way further along in this watch journey than I am, so we will see if I am still beating this drum in 5-10 years.

I have the original version and really enjoy it. It has held up quite well, but I DO stay aware when walking thru doorways!

Larry have read your threads for a long time and know your a passionate guy when it comes to watches. Probably that we’ll It feels like I know you.
But I am going to be blunt. (I’m a Aussie after all😉) The only bad thing that happens to your watches is you sell them or swap them for another.
Strap the bad boy on and wear it for a month or two. Bond with the beauty, enjoy what you worked hard for.
Will admit, there is some Vintage I treat like you when it comes to replacement but nothing modern😉

Totally understand you - I previously have had a mint vintage YG rolex oyster date with a basically NOS bracelet. Was hard to see it get scratched as a daily wearer.

But, good advice from Bobby Axelrod in the TV show billions, "you only get one life, so do it all"

Larry, understand where you're coming from but I want to share an experience early this year with my still newish Sinn. The result is self-explanatory from the photo but it was a break-free event for me because I crossed over to being "free to not baby this thing any more". Plus, the scratched-up watch became a personal travel story to remember because I had just got off nearly 30 hours of flights arriving jetlagged and tired in Milan and then almost immediately tripped over on a footpath in the centre of the city while reading the map on my iphone looking for a restaurant we'd booked for our first meal in Europe. I know, not exactly a war story, but something that serves to remind me both of the trip and the tragic early stages of COVID that were unfolding in Milan at the time. So, wear the Rolex, make the 1st scratch a memorable one, and enjoy the freedom that comes from it.

Congratulations on a beautiful piece, an engineering piece of art by Rolex (the case, the clasp etc) .

On my 6.5" wrist I've been wearing it since I got it new in 2009 , the black one. loved and still love.

Watch is meant to be worn and bring you joy while doing it, otherwise its just "a stock", and not really a good one.
I will require service every few years either you wear it or not, the expense is there as the oil gets dry.
Even as a daily "beater", the watch looks awesome from 3ft away, regardless of scratched or not.
And, one you sell it, if you decide to sell it, a dealer will polish it either its a 10 years old or 2 years old watch, they call it "retail ready" ..
So the "value " is there, scratched or not, (OK deduct 10% from real market value if its scratched , still most of the value is there). I guess if I'll post my 2018Ceramic pepsi FS for 15000, it will be sold in a heart beat, thats what I mean.

to sum it up, I would wear it, enjoy it, get life experience with it, and never look back

Good luck and congrats!

I’ve been wearing it. Walking the dog, running errands. But I did put some cut-out Zag screen protector stickers on the sides and clasp. LOL I didn’t even wipe off the fingerprints for the random pics.
