Managed to buy this Seamaster 166.010 in amazing condition. 565 movement looks great. Beads of rice band looks a little loose but overall I am impressed with the condition. It’s on its way to me and I managed to source a NOS Omega crystal PX5031L with magnifier to help my 51 yo eyes.

I will post some more pics and my thoughts once I receive it. Hoping to have the new crystal installed and maybe a service done by my local in time to put this on my wrist Christmas morning. Although I am not a “gold” watch kind of guy, this watch and it’s condition spoke to me. I already ordered the Extract from Omega.

Thanks. I’m going to put it on my Timegrapher when I get it since I may be able to hold off on servicing it for a bit.

Nice. I ended up getting a steel 166.010 because I had noobishly bought a BOR bracelet with No. 11 endlinks that didn't go on the watch I had at the time. I thought I'd never get attached to it and just sell it to recoup my costs but now it's a favorite.

The five-row BOR has a nice feel, very distinct from the seven-row, though now that it's getting stretchy it does a number on my arm fur at times.

Watch was received today after a very quick journey from Mexico. Condition is breathtaking in person. A real safe queen if ever I have seen one. Putting it on the Timegrapher later.

Just charged up the old tritium with a flashlight for a little vintage lume picture. This must have looked amazing at night in 1968. It lasts for a few minutes but I will report back what it looks like at 3:00 am when I am inevitably woken up and reminded that I am over 50.

Looking good. I like the gold and the Mexican provenance. I'm verging on 51 myself and have been suffering from CSS* syndrome, but the dates on my 166.010 are pretty visible without the magnifier lens.

I am blessed with extraordinary night vision. I can still see glow from vintage lume at times, which is exciting. 😀

Love this piece of yours. I had one slightly newer with a 7-row bracelet and black dial and as a complete fool I sold it.

I ordered the Extract last week and was happy to receive the PDF version this morning. Confirms that this is a birth year watch and also confirms that this watch was first shipped to Mexico, which is where I purchased it from. It has a J/M stamped bracelet which refers to Joske of Mexico. I now have a 1968 Seamster with some provenance and in really great shape. Beyond thrilled!
