Last week was my 40th birthday and I had known for the last couple of years that I was buying a watch to commemorate this occasion. I really wanted a nice, clean, under the radar, 3 hand model that could be either dressed up or down.
For a long time I thought I would either get some version of the Explorer 1 or possibly a 14060m. After trying them on and seeing both in the wild a few different times over the years, really made me want something non-Rolex.
With inspiration from some members here (thanks @Eve)! I decided to go with another watch and brand I’ve lusted after for a while….
This is a 2021 JLC Polaris auto in black on the JLC rubber strap. Due to its 41mm case and 11.2mm thickness, it wears more comfortable than my 42mm Speedmaster and PO (all on straps).
I plan to order some leather bands for it for more formal occasions, but am just enjoying it on rubber for now. I’ve very happy I went with something that isn’t common and I really like the contrast on the dial. Thanks OF for all the help again!
Number 2:
My wife also decided to get me a “watch” for my bday. She was having shoulder pains and wasn’t happy with the end decorating result, but I sure was! (She got the idea for a photo I had shown her in the past from OF, so thanks again everyone!)
