Am I a jerk for wanting to reply to all the BNIB threads on the Rolex forum, that have a Jan 2018 dated Warranty card, with why the F didn't you leave it for someone to buy it at MSRP shithead?

It's not that they shouldn't buy them, but Jesus don't act like you're doing anyone a favor by selling me a new watch, that could have been had at retail above retail.

I know how you feel, it's the same with Speedy Tuesdays, 60ths etc - guess that's just capitalism at work.... No point getting steamed, have a cup of tea, and stay out / wait for prices to drop, or better still stick to vintage...

I know and I will just deal with it, I just needed to vent and wonder if anyone else felt the same.

I do - pretty much every time I see the eBay adds a week after a limited edition is released...I'm sure you aren't alone 😀

It's like wanting to go to a good concert but you can only buy tickets from scalpers

this happens in the knife world as well. the traditional pocket knife community is a small one, but every time, there are people waiting to scoop up knives to flip on ebay. every knife drop this happens. what a tremendous waste of time and adds to the cost for no good reason other than some one who bought solely to sell for a profit. some people sell the knives on ebay before they are even shipped from the company, using the stock pictures.

Why don't you buy at the same time as the people that are posting them. If they can do it surely you could too.

Buy a Chris Reeve Mnandi or anything from Burt Foster ( fixed blade ) , you will stop buying after that 😉

Well yeah I mean if you could find a steel sports Rolex at the moment, but I'm griping solely at them buying them to flip them which I usually don't complain about with anything.
And I'm also assuming there are some feeding them the watches so it's not that simple.

Obviously folks are buying from them or it would stop. Personally, I won’t be the end customer. But if someone is willing to buy at an inflated price, I can certainly understand why they buy to flip. I’ve just never wanted anything badly enough to pay the flipper tax.

I wouldn't assume everyone selling at a premium is buying just to make money. It's quite feasible, especially with watches that are bought unseen, that a handful of people simply decide it's not for them when they get it. So they research asking prices, and list it. They could, of course, sell it at or below cost. But why would you if it was possible to get more?

That's true why sell something for less than you can make, and I suppose I was broad. I know some people get stellar deals in different countries, I guess some adds get me steamed because you know it's a reseller not just someone who had buyers remorse.

Even as a re-seller, you take a risk. Not easy to predict demand and post-sale prices for limited editions. Some seem to sell for more, others can bomb.

Same thing happens in the automotive world, though Porsche recently stated that they are starting to keep an eye out for flippers, who may find themselves dropped from further allocations.

As far as steel rollies here not so much a problem right now, even still my main point being pissed at how they try to act buddy buddy while flipping something, if they had just left it at the store somebody who doesn't want to pay the flip tax and might actually cherish the product could have had it. There's risk in almost everything but if the person as a reseller loses their ass on a product because they tried to flip for the sake of flipping, I would just laugh and laugh and laugh.

These types are all the same. They wait in line for hours to get the newest “xxxxxx” to flip online. Never hold regular job, always hustling in mostly legal but often scammy/pathetic ways. They are also mildly to moderately paranoid / disgusted at the government but always cash their social security/disability/ workers comp checks every month without fail.
