Hi
New to the forum,I have a small collection of watches but no Omegas, until I was given a vintage Seamaster by family member, who has sadly since passed away.
I’m really not certain if it is a fake or genuine. I took it into an Omega outlet in my home city but they were not particularly helpful. However they suggested that I could send it to their centre to have it checked out at a cost of £600. Obviously not sure if the watch is worth it !
I had the back removed by a local jeweller to enable me to take the photos.
I would be very grateful if any one could give me any information on the watch.
Thank You
Jim

1660098 inside the case back is the model #

serial number will be on the movement. Looks a 1481 movement

Not sure if the dial is seen in a Seamaster also ?! But more knowledgeable will chime in.

PS
Look for an independent watchmaker with an Omega parts account for a service. (Dont take it to Omega)

When researching, it may help to formulate the model number as 166.0098.

Agree re independent qualified watchmaker rather than Omega. These aren’t extremely valuable watches, but if this one has sentimental value to you, there’s nothing wrong with paying more than it’s ‘worth’ to get it into shape for regular wearing.
