Very cool! 😎

Do you know which Navy H-60 version he was on? Bravo, Foxtrot, Romeo, or Sierra? He may have been on multiple versions. When you say “Crew Chief” do you mean “Aircrewman (AW)”? I ask because back when I was flying the Bravo model in the 1980s/1990s, we had either one or two Aircrewmen (AWs) in the back.

Above the noise of the wind blowing through the cabin and across my microphone (we were flying with the doors off) I'm pretty sure I heard my instructor say something about 'Sierra'. I'll have to ask him about his exact job title next time we fly.

It’s not the Smithsonian, sir…it’s the National Naval Aviation Museum located at NAS Pensacola [the cradle of U.S. Naval Aviation] in Florida, USA. I was there last year for a military reunion…and that’s why I was wearing a bow tie standing next to my old bird [SH-60B Seahawk]…

Thanks for the clarification (and your service)! I put in "National Nasal Radiation Museum" in Google and all I got was a lot of stuff about nose conditions. Was it type auto-correct or is that some Naval in-house slang?

Depending on which of my ramblings you have read, you may be aware that my husband has Glioblastoma (brain cancer), really nasty shit. When he was still able to work he was a marriage and family therapist (LMFT). Something he was really good at, such was his passion for helping others. He always had an orchid on his desk and would bring them home after the blooms had fallen. Me having a green thumb and a perfect spot for them they re-bloom fairly regularly. This year we'll have seven and these are the first three.

Best of luck to your husband and thanks for the beautiful pictures.

I recently rediscovered this Polaroid of my great-aunt that she sent me. She was quirky, always had a smile, and for some reason loved me unequivocally. I always felt that for her, family was number one, which meant a lot coming from a nun.

My grandmother, her sister, said that she was a flapper, loved to dance, and then when she was about 30, she suddenly joined a Covent. That little background made me love her even more.
