Images in Grasmere the lake District yesterday the famous gingerbread shop and the equally famous Herdwick sheep .
Been there! On a bus tour, 2009. Bought much gingerbread for friends. Home of poet William Wordsworth who lived with his sister, there.
After a loooooong Canadian prairie winter, signs of spring! Crocuses blooming in m’lady’s perennial garden.
My missus found this and some others of our boxing club just before we moved in December. May 16th 1978 and our club show.2 of the lads scored 1st round KO's but my opponent didn't turn up. 1 of the kids is now a Wing Commander, 2 have been in prison, 2 are dead plus our trainer Kenny. We had a re-union a few years ago but it was a big let down. But I hadn't seen the pics for 30 odd years so seeing them did lift my spirits.
From my 8 hour walk across a mountain and back chasing Turkeys today. Mountain Laurel and a Cherokee Rose, a crimson Trillium and a purple native iris…and a very irritable rat snake once I chased him down and caught him.
Spring! If only it could last much longer. My better half’s perennial garden with crocuses, edelweiss, tulips, heather, allium, shooting stars, bleeding hearts, Icelandic poppies, oriental poppies, and grape hyacinths. The Black Lace Elder is slow to bloom, and the empty trellis will soon be engulfed by clematis which both reach 8 feet tall. Love it!
