Back to Great Langdale for a few days and a good walk. A little bit of a winter hit
Great pics.

Takes me back to my winter climbing days in the Lake District. Pinnacle Ridge, Jack’s Rake, Striding Edge. Topped out through cornices above Red Tarn when we used to get reilaible conditions.

On the topic of birds. February 23, 2023, spring is here………according to the calendar. The temperature is -21° C ( about -6 F°), and there is a ROBIN in our crab apple tree! Normally, we don’t see them until late April or early May. If the early bird catches the worm, his lunch is hibernating under several feet of snow!

The image draws inspiration from the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, known to be a black belt in judo, and depicts a young judoka representing Ukraine knocking down a grown man.

The phrase “FCK PTN” in Cyrillic has been added to the lower left part of the new stamp.

This is our hausberg.
Only 2.5 miles away from home but with my right knee and hip deteriorating rapidly the chances of getting up are running out🙁
Anyway wife, dog and myself have been up hundreds of times in all sorts of weather and always end up smiling.

Temperature -10° C (14°F) today. Pleasant, with no wind. Spotted this red squirrel who discovered how to get onto our bird feeder. It is eating its fill of raw black oil sunflower seeds.

Along with the red squirrel in the bird feeder I showed earlier, our resident family of mule deer stopped by for a visit, today. I passed by the doe within six feet, as I left to run errands. She just reposed and chewed on her cud. There are 4 mule deer under our spruce tree as well. This is a regular scene.

I envoy you the deer at rest so comfortably in your yard, but do not envy the snow.

This is at one daughter's house in the country - no deer but lots of kangaroos.

While those of us in the northern hemisphere are able to look forward to spring and summer, where you live, you are forced to contemplate autumn and winter! There are drifts 3 feet deep in our yard, and more snow threatened for the week end. Temperature of -14° C right now, with a wind chill making it feel like -25° C. That’s about -11° F. Within the next week or so, my wife should have orchids blooming in our greenhouse.😀
