·AVRO Vulcan XL426 celebrated her 60th Birthday today Saturday 27th August 2022 with a taxi run as part of a Vulcan restoration trust event.
A lot of people got to hear XL426's Olympus engines howl at full power and see the Vulcan's brake parachute bring XL426 to a spectacular halt . This year is also the 70th Anniversary of the maiden flight of the Vulcan prototype VX770 in August 1952.
What is extra special is that one of the sons (John Falk) of the original test pilot Roland (Roly) Falk got to follow in his fathers footsteps, and was able to join them for the taxi ride. What a fitting tribute to an amazing pilot and a wonderful aircraft…

Some kids playing football stopped their game to wave at it, me and Mrs Turpinr did the same.
The sound was unbelievable and time seemed to stand still as the 'shining sword' roared it's way over us.
Last Sunday a BBMF Hurricane flew over.
A Spifire would make it a hatrick.
