This is really cool. I helped out a couple nearby who are going through a hard time due to some physical ailments. Nothing major I just helped them navigate some rental assistance and energy help. So they asked me to stop by after work. It was fine as I had a gift for them I wanted to drop off. The guy in the family collects WWF watches which to him might as well be Rolex so we do talk watches. They, with great joy, handed me this watch holder. Obviously it’s very basic but when anyone, especially if they are having a tough time, takes the time to get you something it really hits you, well me at least. I would have preferred they didn’t get me anything but I thanked them immensely for such a thoughtful gift. It will but a smile on my face every time I see it. Excuse the bad picture it’s night time. Edit: I opened it it’s actually pretty solid I certainly can use it

Now that really does fit this thread. Enjoy, well earned, happy Christmas.
Ha ha thanks I was actually concerned it didn’t belong but it truly did and is still putting a smile on my face. Just to clarify the help I gave them was not difficult or intensive I just know all the websites and it involved scanning documents in that they didn’t know how to do. So I’m not tooting my horn here. But I’ve been in tight spots in the past and didn’t receive any help (it was fine I made it through and came out solid, well for now at least) But these are the bread winners of the house and they both got hit with sad medical stuff if they get 4-5 months rent covered I’m sure it will take a lot of pressure off. As far as the utility help damn we are up like 20-30% in our state this year. That’s a significant whack for a lot of people all this help available is going to dry up at some point. It’s scary for a lot of people.

That's lovely, proves the old saying, "it's the thought that counts"

I took this earlier in the year - Mainly as the light through the window was nice. The cardboard shows a rough sleeper has been there for shelter which is apt, and nice that nobody had moved their 'bed'. Locally a lot of people give to help the homeless at this time of year, so as the weather gets colder many will have access to free accomodation and food over the holiday period and hopefully beyond during the winter thanks to charity support.

Many years ago, (early 1960s), my wife lived in Vancouver, B C. One day, she and her mother were walking in an older area when they encountered a wrecking crew setting up to demolish a Victorian mansion which was lavishly outfitted with stained glass windows. She asked one of the crew what would happen with the windows. CRUNCH, was the reply! She asked if there was a chance she could help herself to some of the stained glass transoms. She was told if she would come the following day when the coffee truck was there, she could have some. In short, the following day, she owned three of them. Fast forward to 1971, after we married and moved to the house we’re in, I installed one of the windows in our living room. We love it!

Both daughters now working from home, I hung this up beside the workstations and it certainly lifted my spirits when I saw the look of uncertainty on their faces 😁

I was thinking of including that one when I broach the subject of the increased utility bills 🤦
