My niece and nephew at approximately the same age admiring the ol' Fortis. Note the best dog in the world standing by steadfastly. Are these two siblings or what? 🥰

Two Plush Crested Jay's dancing at Iguazu Falls

My good friend and I ended up boring the rest of the bachelor party this past weekend when we got talking about birds. The trigger was that we were all sitting around chatting when we heard a unique bird (ended up being a white throated Sparrow) and Ben and I just ended up down the rabbit hole about it.

We're in northern Michigan and obviously don't have these plush crested jays. Where, roughly, did you see these creatures?

Very nice picture, I particularly like bird pictures with clear eyes. We were at Iguazu Falls on the border of Brazil and Argentina where I saw these beautiful Plush Crested Jay's dancing and I was lucky to catch both of them framed, focused, with their eyes looking my way.

It's a smashing shot! Thank you for sharing it with us😀

I'm horrible at taking pictures, but I tell you what when I'm called up at the end of my days, I'll have a lifetime of memories in my heart and that's good enough for me

That is f***ing magnificent!

Did you take this picture ?!! Amazing. Quite difficult lighting situation. And the kids just joyfully running and playing.

Some place in Africa but where? Namibia? (too Desert) Have seen smaller versions of those trees but had no idea they got so big.

EDIT: showed it to my wife and she recognized it as avenue of Balboas in Madagascar. Correct?

Can't express how envious I am.

Picked this little cluster when I got the mail this morning. They're really tiny. All together they wouldn't be as wide as my thumbnail.

Looking at it, I couldn't place exactly what was feeling so familiar about it. Until it dawned on me.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it! And I believe that your wife is exactly correct.

But no, I did not take the image, and, as I was in a hurry when I posted it, I neglected to provide a credit. After a bit of research this morning (the photo was an "orphan" in my (huge) photo collection on my hard drive), I figured out that it was taken by one of my favorite contemporary photographers, Marc Apers. Here is his superb 1X link, through which readers can enjoy many other outstanding images, prints of which can be purchased.

Cheers!

The sights and sounds of a warm summer evening in the front yard here (we have an area of native forest out front), with a bumper crop of fireflies this year, and if you turn the sound up you can hear the tree frogs in the background...nice to just sit on the step and watch and listen...
