@JimInOz 's thread about timing Seiko Turtles made me think of a pretty fortunate snorkeling encounter a couple years ago. My wife and I were in Kauai and either just getting in or out of the water (you can see how shallow it is in one of the photos) and these sea turtles swam right by us. They came in to munch on the algae growing on the rocks near the shore. We just floated and gently, slowly swam alongside them for the longest time - it was pretty fantastic. They weren't the least bit bothered by us. They only took off once other people spotted them and came running / splashing (more like crashing) into the water. I was wearing my blue SMP on that trip.
Nice catch of nature.

I always have mixed feelings when I see this picture. It was taken almost 20 years ago, and sadly, “Smudge”, our cairn terrier is no longer with us. Cairn terriers were used in Scotland to chase badgers out of rocky cairns. I think Smudge had just heard a Marmot squeal as I took this picture. Love the picture, hate no longer having him.

Sorry, a "like" isn't enough this time. Thanks for posting that, and I know how you feel about Smudge. August 18 many years ago was the date we lost the only true cairn terrier I ever came across IRL, our Andy. I still own the house where I laid him to rest, and visit occasionally to make sure they are keeping his memorial tidy. Right wee cracker is just the right expression. Only sorry he pre-dated digital media, so no uplifting photos to post right now.

Leo the friendly lion - an unexpected find in the back of an antique dealer's truck at Brimfield, Massachusetts a few years ago. He still makes me smile.

From my walk this morning...

Tugs active on the booming grounds

Psychoactive on the ground
