I'm kind of embarrassed to admit...

I wear my Apple Watch a fair amount. When I get home from work and ditch the work clothes - I will swap to the Apple watch, sleep with it on and then wear it most of the morning till I get dressed again for work.
I use it for health tracking/exercise. And it is nice to be able to leave my phone upstairs but still have the ability to receive a call or text if needed.
Same with just leaving the house without my phone - it still works independently so it is nice for bike rides or really any time I don't want/need my phone on me.
And like @pdxleaf said - it is a gateway of sorts. I have a handful of friends who had no interest in watches, then got smart watches, then realized they wanted some "normal" watches too.

Amazing that you give away your private life for no reason and then third parties even turn it into a business.

I solved the mechanical vs smart conundrum by wearing a Garmin fitness band (Vivosmart 5) on my right wrist, leaving my left one for a traditional timepiece. I may not have all the features that a high-end smartwatch would bring me, but I still get most of what I want.
