I'm a sick man..

At least that's what I'm afraid of. Let me explain.
I have a few Omega watches .
I have a Seamaster Pro, and a Speedmaster Mark 4.5,

along with a few vintage Omegas. I am not new to the brand.
Last week I decided that it was time to buy a Speedmaster Pro, a real Moon Watch.馃榾
I went to the AD and purchased one with a black leather band, I always thought that they looked best on a leather band.
I am now a member of the Speedmaster Pro Club!::psy::

I got home eager to set my watch to atomic time, when I realized that this doesn't have a hacking movement. I didn't know that. That was a little disappointing.
I did know that the Moon Watch didn't have a date window, but the next day I constantly would look for it. For me I guess that this is important. Something that I will have to get use to.
The crown. I didn't like the crown. It was too small, and the pushers were too close to it. It was not easy or comfortable to wind. That was also a little disappointing. I think maybe I'm being too picky.
When I bought my Seamaster Pro, I never took it off. I slept with it on for goodness sake. This new Speedy Pro, I didn't feel the same.

"Really?" That's what the salesman said.
"You want to return a Moon Watch?" He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
They were all so friendly when I was looking, there were four of them around me when I was there last time. Now there was only one, and he looked rather sad. I felt like I was doing something wrong.
"Yea" I told him. "It just doesn't do it for me." He looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language.

I am a sick man...
I am an unattractive man.

I know some will say that I needed to give it some time. That I didn't give it a chance.
I don't know. It just wasn't there for me. I didn't feel it.
Maybe there is something wrong with me.

I am a sick man...
I am an unattractive man.
I believe my liver is diseased.

Hopefully I don't get kicked out of the OF for this confession.
I don't hate Speedmasters, like I said, I have a Mark 4.5 and love it. I plan to purchase a Mark II, and I like the Broad Arrow.

I just don't like the Moon Watch.

I don't know a thing about your illness, not even what hurts, but no worries Buckeyes. Like what you like and more importantly, wear what you like.

Try a vintage speedy one day. It might change your mind.

I think your membership will still be good here. If you're not feeling it, I think you made the right decision to return it. Use those funds for something that you love. I happen to love the classic Speedy Pro, but many have made a similar confession as yours. As an aside, the second hand can be hacked but applying a little back pressure to the crown when setting the watch. Of course not as convenient as a traditional hacking movement, but still gets the job done.

Thanks for the hacking trick AAAKK! Buck, I really enjoy my Speedy Pro for a lot of reasons including no date and manual wind. That said, good for you to at least be open to trying it. Different strokes for different folks. Luckily Omega makes several options so that most of us can find one that speaks to us. I'd happily buy you a scotch and shoot the bull even if you don't like my watch.........it's all good! 馃憤

I ended up with my 20th anniversary moon watch when I worked for (what was then) one of the three highest volume Omega stores in Canada. They didn't carry Rolex. I'm a Rolex guy, and my watch of choice at work was a GMT Master II. The boss didn't like the fact I wore a Rolex at work, so he insisted that I buy an Omega. It took me a while to decide which Omega to buy, and I got an excellent price on it, so I ended up with the Speedmaster. I like it, and have none of the dislikes mentioned above. But with a very broad choice of which watch to wear, I seldom wear it.

@Buckeyes#1 don't worry. For each person who does not like/enjoy the Moon watch, there are a few hundred others outhere who will love da watch! Your ex Moon watch will eventually find true love once let go.

Ah another one, don't apologise, in fact be grateful. Imagine all the threads you don't have to comment on and give likes for. I think they are a bit blah blah blah. I do like some of the LEs but the moon watch is dull in my opinion.

I totally get what you are saying... I love the Speedmaster LEs. I have two and so I was completely certain that I wanted the Speedyorite. I got the Speedyorite and could not get over the sapphire crystal. So I sold it.

Im with you Buckeyes, I'm a diver watch guy through and through. I "tried" to love the Speedmaster, but simply couldn't. Bought and sold two... finally grabbed the planet ocean I wanted from the start and now I couldn't be happier!
I'm sure we will all continue to make these strange forced purchases again, but don't be afraid to admit it was a mistake and get what you truly love. I recently picked up a red bezel black bay just for the fun of it. I know I don't love one aspect of it (the rose gold dial details) but it's ok. I acknowledged it from the moment I bought it and can deal with the future flip.
Moral of the story, follow your heart and don't forget to have fun with this hobby 馃榾

I'm in full agreement with you Funkinator.
Have to say that the red Black Bay looks nice on the distressed band.

I'm probably sick in the head in the opposite way. A hacking feature holds no importance for me even though I learned the "back-pressure" trick long ago on other watches. I love the very minor idiosyncrasy of winding the crown with the pushers closely located, love winding any watch. Also positively gloat over the fact the my Speedmaster Pro has no date window and I don't have to look at a wretched date feature.

It does... but after buying the SS bracelet I can't afford to keep both. And I really like it better on bracelet, personally.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with knowing what you like and don't like and if a moonwatch doesn't appeal, it's no big deal. Rather than trying to force yourself to like a Speedy, it's far better than you returned it and got/will get something that really speaks to you.

I know a couple of people who adore their Seamasters but won't touch any of the Speedy moonwatches. Perhaps being diving watch guys, they like the slightly larger crown and more space between crown and pushers, those watches, well some of them at least, were designed to be used with diving gloves. Taste is a very personal thing and while there are millions of Speedy lovers, I'm sure there are just as many who'd rather not have one. It shouldn't matter to you - it's your life, your hard earned coin so buy what you like.

The Moonwatch is an all-time classic but is not for everybody.

Hand-winding movement, no date, plexi and virtually no WR makes it pretty special.
You've got to love this watch. Most of the owners, we do.
