If I had a dollar for every watch I liked for a day or two before moving on to some other watch..

Glad I don't buy most of them

There's absolutely nothing wrong with knowing what you like and don't like and if a moonwatch doesn't appeal, it's no big deal. Rather than trying to force yourself to like a Speedy, it's far better than you returned it and got/will get something that really speaks to you.

I know a couple of people who adore their Seamasters but won't touch any of the Speedy moonwatches. Perhaps being diving watch guys, they like the slightly larger crown and more space between crown and pushers, those watches, well some of them at least, were designed to be used with diving gloves. Taste is a very personal thing and while there are millions of Speedy lovers, I'm sure there are just as many who'd rather not have one. It shouldn't matter to you - it's your life, your hard earned coin so buy what you like.

WELL put Max.....could not have said it better myself. You have to be 100% happy with it or it will not get much wrist time.

That is the beauty of buying from an Omega Boutique and/or AD. I believe they give you a small window to return if not 100% happy with the purchase.

Best of luck with your decision.

They gave 30 days to return. Good policy.

they refund 100% of what you paid in case you return it?

they sell the return watches as new?
this seems weird...

Yea, they refund 100%, then they sell it as used at a discount. Hate the thought that I may have cost them money, but it is their policy. It's a huge company, so don't feel too sorry for them.

in any case, I cannot understand how an AD has this policy.

if the case was that you are a frequent customer, then it would make sense.
whatsoever, this was good for you.

plus, I got to learn that somewhere on the globe there are ADs who let you wear their new watches for 30days, free of charge!

I'll be honest, there was a time when I also looked at a Speedmaster Pro and wondered what all the fuss was about. When I started servicing watches for a living, and had many Speedmasters crossing my bench, I started to appreciate the subtle things about the watch, and also that it was a very solid watch...even though it has little water resistance compared to the divers.

I'm actually not really a chronograph guy. I have owned just 4 in my life (2 of them Speedmasters). I have only one now, and that's a Speedmaster. It's the watch I currently wear more than any other, partially because I like it, and partially because when I don't have it on I miss having the chronograph function. I do use it in my work quite often for timing things like the rotor bearing damping test, length of pressure tests, running in of the escapement, etc. It's on my wrist right now.

It's not flashy (in it's normal configuration) it doesn't have "super powers" that many dive watches have, dive watches that mostly will never see water let alone be used for actual diving, and virtually none will ever go as deep as they are rated...

It's a simple, classic, unassuming watch, and that is most certainly not for everyone.

And for those people here (many) who like those smaller gold vintage dress watches like the Constellations that most here rave about...well I really have zero interest in them. I've said it many times, and no one has banned me yet, so I think you are safe.

Cheers, Al

Good point about borrowing their watches for a month. Maybe I should take a test drive of a Proplof for a month. 😉
Don't know if it is appropriate to say who the AD is, but let me describe them as a galleria of Jewelers.

I was not very fond of the Moonwatch until I bought mine.

It was originally owned by a friend of mine for only a couple of months and he had to sell it in order to fund his grail.
I bought it, mostly to "help" him but also because I knew that this watch is a 'blue chip'. You can sell whenever you want and not lose a lot of money.

After I bought it and it for a couple of days, I started to notice that all these small things that used to bother me, were the factors that made this watch so special.

Honestly, I cannot propose any watch that will feel so special as the Moonwatch, in this price range
