....why do they keep on putting 1000ft/300m on the face?

1,000ft is not 300m. Just sayin' 馃槜

And most ratings are tested to +25% so technically 1000ft is OK.

Maybe they think imperial measurements are better so they promise an extra few yards if you are willing to go old school?
