Idiotic and needless scratching up of cases with beads

Cleaning up a polished surface isn't bad. Brushed or grained surfaces, however, you are more likely to make them worse instead of better, as I have found to my horror. I leave those for the next service. That said, I have had bracelets refinished when they get too badly beat up.

I'm a father of 3, and still have a friendship bracelet that still hangs from the neck of a high-end, custom-made guitar. I have a painted rock on my dresser that says world's best Dad. I dressed in a costume and got together with several just-as-uncoordinated dads to perform at my daughter's dance recital but I have to draw the line somewhere.....
Polyester- that’s my line.

It only took me one time, and lucky it was a case back. Used a little mother’s with a q-tip to clean up a grimy polished case on a Bulova. Whole case was high polish but case back was swirl brushed (factory finish. The Mothers did an incredible job on the polished case and didn’t harm any of the sharp lines, but it made the brushed back shiny- as in could barely see it was brushed. I’m much more careful now.

Yeah! Rayon forever!

(Notable exception: outdoor clothing designed for cold and damp. Cotton kills, wool is better, but poly blends are best.)

Always wool for me- socks, undies and all base layers.

Tooooo heavy. 😀 I picked up a set and then some of surplus ECWCS, which meant different things at different times.

Those military designers knew what they were talking about, for sure. Even the surplus stuff is expensive but one coldish sloppy Wisconsin winter convinced me, and there's nothing wrong with light weight, either!

For the first time in my 4 years here, I wish there was an "unlike" button. The elastic band bracelet on that particular watch is just wrong.:whipped:

I'll tell you why this is right!
Doesn't matter what you wear on your wrist.
We need to get more people into this hobby.
Get more people involved!!!! Get YOUNG people involved.

I like seeing people change up their wrist game. Wear them with beads, whatever.
Keep them fun and exciting; create memories.

A few years ago rainbow Daytona was a crime. Today, people can't sell their house quick enough to buy one, IF AVAIL.
(my house is for sale. My Rolex rep just called.)
Watch collecting is a funny thing. There's no right or wrong.
One thing for sure, the circle needs a lot of help expanding.
FYI, this forum is 99% male. That alone puts this hobby at a 50% disadvantage.
So when my daughter asks me if she can make a strap for my watches. There's only one right answer:
"Which one, baby!"

Stick with rubber or leather bracelets on the left.

We all have our preferences. I have winter and summer weight merino- never had any issue in many years of grueling field work (both sub-zero and 110f in Alabama) -and I’m like the princess and the pea- one fiber out of place and I’m tearing at my skin.

Yup. Lot to be said for sticking with what you know and has always worked.

What movie was this from?
Don’t know if you were answered yet but it’s Jeremiah Johnson if I’m not mistaken

Does anyone one else suffer from this hazard? Surely everyone who wears these stupid beaded bracelets does? I guess i could wear them crown-side, but i still imagine this would elicit some rubbing and scratching..

oh man...this latest trend of those bullshit beads on the wrist in watch-wrist shots is hard to fathom. The only thing worse is guys and gals wearing metal chain bracelets slapping their watch. If I owned a gun...

There are some things in life you know deep down are just wrong, wearing any sort of bracelet on the watch wrist is one.

Thanks - I thought it was Robert Redford but for some reason Outlaw Josey Wales was all I could think of which was an Eastwood flick.

You are indeed a good father. One of my daughters, in her late 20's has a small collection of watches and 3 of them are vintage pieces that I gave her as gifts. I gave my other daughter a vintage Omega when she graduated from university and I think she is afraid to wear it. She love the Citizen ecodrive I gave her but it doesn't make the same statement. To each their own..

I’d be wanting to know where all my other guns went.

There is valid reasons why there are gun laws. I would not be a good candidate for gun ownership as if nothing else it would be prone to off-color amusement 😁
