Identification of Wittnauer 4000 Red Dial

I came across this one on Ebay and it just sold. I think @Wlcutter sold or someone jacked his name lol. Is this red dial original? I can't find any history on the skin diver with orange/red variant. I see a couple of images online but not much. Is this watch sold original and I should look for one that matches?

While the black dial is the most common, I've seen this variant before, so I believe its perfectly legit.
