Just got this watch. Dial has some corrosion and I’m waiting on a battery, but I’m wondering if you can help get an actual reference number. I know the caseback number is 196.0089 and the movement is a 1342. But can’t quite find the actual model number.

Thank you.

The number in the caseback is the reference.
OK thanks. Just not finding much about it. Not really looking for any info in particular, just trying to get some insight into it. Thanks.

When I google it, I do find plenty of other examples of the reference, mostly sales listings. It's a nice looking watch with the integrated bracelet. For the most part, quartz Omega watches from the late 70s onwards aren't as popular with collectors, so it makes sense that you probably won't find so much discussion online. But I'm sure there are some fans here on the forum.

As it has an integrated bracelet, the reference is actually 396.0856.

First digit is 1 = Gents Watch.
First digit is 3 = Gents Bracelet Watch.

Yes, that’s about all I’m finding too. Lots of sales listings, but not much substance. Thanks again.

I always thought the Day/Date version was cal 1345, and that 1342 was date only. Could someone have changed the bridge plate?

Please remove this hair. It's driving me crazy.

Haha, is gone. Must be a German hair as that’s where it came from. Surprised I didn’t get tariffed on it.

So looking into that, I believe you’re right. Thanks.

Well, I finally got a battery in it. The seconds hand moves for a bit. When I tried to set the time it grinds pretty good. I think it needs help. Anytime know of any drop in replacement movements as the 1345 is pretty hard to find.

That is my understanding.

I have a few threads on the subject. Both calibers seem to come up often. I missed out on one this morning getting outbid. Sat at 0 bidders all week. This in the US. Shot up in the last seconds. So there is a fair bit of interest in these. Probably as parts sources.

Many of the parts are interchangeable on these. Especially the timing circuit, and the stepping motor. Both are subject to failure. Sensitive to static discharge. The rest of the movement is purely mechanical.

The date and day/date also have some interchangeable parts. The latter has some spacers to clear the day wheel. Usually the mounting holes on the 1342 are not tapped. There are also different heights in the motion works stack to clear the dial.

I suspect that given the issues with electronics failure, a lot of these are frankens. Especially given how the parts interchange.

There is also the question of jewel count (which was affected by tariffs.) I have seen different counts stamped on the 1342 plates. I think there is also a 1346 which was chronometer grade.

Silly me, I got a real nice constellation 1345 dial, which fit perfectly. Then to realize that the case could not take the taller dial, and had no date advance button.

I think it was the 1342 that I missed out on yesterday.

Got another 1345 parts movement this morning.

I was out on a bird/nature walk, so just bid a bunch close to what the other went for and forgot about it till I got back. Probably a bit more that I would have were it not for this thread and missing the one yesterday. Surprised I was not outbid at the end.

So these things are out there.
