I would pick a Yachtmaster over a Sub

It was brought out purely as a more dressy Submariner with the same movement I believe and went totally against the toolwatch ethos of the professional line. This was probably its downfall. I think it’s superb and would have this before a Submariner.

Hi

I just love the plat dial and bezel insert all monotone ... with a splash of red !
The case sides are cured and not typical flat slab sided rolex sports oyster case of the past 60 years or so ....

good hunting

Beautiful watch. I think the new twotone and the navy blue dials are captivating.

Could never get used to the name because I don't have a yacht... I guess it's a yachtmaster like the speedmaster is a moonwatch? Some of them have been yachting few times?

If you love it, that is all that matters.
Personally, I would have looked into an older more classic in appearance submariner and compared the two. A 1980s sub should run a tad below 10k.
Wear in good health and congratulations

We have one of the early models and it is a stunning watch. The sparkle effect of the platinum dial surface is fantastic. One thing to watch with them is the platinum bezel insert surface between the raised numerals. It has a very fine sort of bead blasted blush appearance and any marking up of it will scream out at your eyes. Rolex Manila used to be able to re-blush the surface or whatever they call the process but from what I understand they don't do it anymore. We baby ours.

I agree, yacht masters are very much under-rated. I wonder what a red second hand would look like on a submariner? Pretty good I am guessing.

I can't get past the bezel. I'd actually rather have the Yachtmaster II.
