I have found this Omega Speedmaster on the web. Looks good. I like the aged hour markers. Any opinions from the experts. Purchase price was $3.5K
1991 Omega Speedmaster Professional ST 145.022
$3950

Does the ST stand for something else besides stainless steel?

Tritium from the 80s and 90s has aged well on Speedmasters.

Better than Tritium from the '70s. Which is kind of annoying 👎

another question here.....

it is model 145.022 how do you determine the -76 or -78 etc etc is it the year the watch was made?
145.022-76? Would this be 145.022-91?

AFAIK in the caseback it says the -XX year number and after 1978 Omega stopped doing that, so for post-78 you can use extracts/extract prediction/serial prediction.

I already bought this watch, so I will assume the 145.022 made in 1991 is a average watch, not a important vintage. correct.

Do you have the serial number on the movement? This helps determine the year of production. My thoughts are that this is a late 80’s model instead of a 90’s as the dial has the Long S letter, newer model bracelet as well as the serif bezel. But a serial will definitely be needed for further info.

Try to get better resolution pictures also, and additional shots of the case back and possibly movement. This way the guys here can provide you better estimations on its originality and correctness for its serial number.

Wait til the tritium from the '90s is 40 years old like the '70s lume is nowadays... probably will look about the same (with minor variations for batches, producers etc). Like us, lume continues to age

Great...OF is a bevy of information. This watch stuff is nuts. I didn't know there could be so many nuances.

Absolutely. So much info here it is amazing. You are probably far more knowledgable than me on serial numbers and datings etc. For me, there are so many variations I can't even imagine keeping track. I am just happy with my FOIS, lol. Atleast I can keep track of it and trace back to CK 2998 and be happy I know the history of what I have.

As noted by previous threads here on OF, the pushers on a Speedmaster will be between the 2&3 and 3&4

For the fun of it I looked at the same year Speedmasters on Chrono24. Sure were many for sale were the pushers are not in this position and had a sale price of little over $2K. Are these of suspect nature?

Which do you mean by "these", yours or the ones you found?

I think yours might be priced higher due to the great bezel condition and the nice patina (though possibly the others you've found have almost the same level of patina)

“These” are the ones I looked at on Chrono24

The nice watch I purchased is the real deal and very good looking.
The patina on the hour markers is the draw for me on this certain watch. Bezel is pretty nice as you say.
