My guess is the negative reactions (including my own) may be due to the fact that the member did not give any real background that might help make a legitimate recommendation....but DID make it clear that he was getting a Rolex for the dad in law. Rolex can create some strong reactions all by itself. I should have asked: why Rolex? Why ask for opinions from strangers who you don't know, nor do they know a fraction of what they need to know to make a legit. recommendation. The member seems like a friendly guy. There are too many possible watches, and he should know much better than any of us which ROLEX best fits the bill. And I own several Rolex, so I'm not just an anti rolex guy.
I understand you perfectly now.

I got him a very fine Omega Seamaster.
Thanks for the concern.
I thought you wanted to get him a Rolex? Why did you decide on a Seamaster? Which Seamaster did you get? Was it vintage or new? Do you have a photo of said Seamaster? What was your father-in-law's reaction?

I have a migraine. What did the guy ask that was such a problem? Maybe if we had been more helpful, the OP might have become a good member. Could we please not turn into the Rolex Forums? One of those is more than enough.

You’re a very nice person to not join the picking party.
Thanks a lot.

This is why I spend less time here than I used to.
A significant uptick in (often newer) members being rude, keyboard warriors, seemingly in an attempt to big themselves up, at the expense of others asking legitimate questions.

I blame violent video games, the interweb, and high fructose corn syrup. And to a lesser extent, fluoridated municipal water.

You and your tin-foil hat theories can get lost. It’s clearly either the chemtrails or the vaccine additives that are at fault.

Definitely red dye
Isn't that the reason there was so much fuss over red M and Ms years ago? Was it the 80s? Now I'm thinking synth pop music might be the cause.
