Long story short I picked up an absolutely amazing 3590.50, C4 Dial w/ faded to blue insert, full set with multiple bracelets and service records through a trade about a month ago now.

Well I posted a picture of it on my IG and the 2nd owner from across the world reaches out via DM and says hey I owned that watch. We chatted for a bit and he's a great guy that many of you may know.

I don't know about you, but whenever I buy a preloved watch I always wonder who's wrist it has lived on before mine, at least now I know the 2nd, 4th, and 5th owners!

A Rolex DJ 1603 from 68' that was absolutely complete down to hang tags and everything from new. It was like a time capsule and the guy who had the speedy had one like it as his first watch and missed it so win win!

That is one beautiful example of an unmolested Datejust, would have made the trade as well. However, the bezel on the Speedie also looks very attractive..

Did you sell it to Grant? I knew Grant got it and then he sold it to the guy I got it from... this poor speedy has been passed around lol
Yes! That Speedmaster is well-traveled in the past 6 months alone!

Amazing story, and very fun to know the history.

And just when I thought I was starting to get a handle on vintage watches ... apparently T SWISS T dials don't always have lume. There's an exception to every rule.

That's a great story, I've been thinking along similar lines myself today and was going to start a thread but can add to yours.

I bought two Seiko 7548's a few months ago and recently got around to giving them new straps and batteries. They have both live their lives, since they were born in '88, in Barbados, with occasional trips at least to Florida (I'm told they were serviced there although there was only evidence in the 7000, the 700F appears to have been sent to a butchers). The original owner did use them as intended, including diving, and they show their history.

So I'm about to leave for a 2 week trip to West Africa and the 700F is coming with me (I replaced the missing battery strap and screws with those from the 7000). Another chapter in it's life begins.

Yes there was a non lume dial option on these early DJ’s
