·Back in the day the exhibition pieces were shipped without movements. That would certainly keep them from being sold. Any possibility that’s still going on?
I got so close, but they wouldn't let me touch it.

Go to watch shops a bit when I travel with work and have seen many brands watches that are display only, and I have not seen a dummy watch without a movement for over 15 odd years.

·When people are told they can't have something it makes them want it even more. In 2019 Omega was able to turn out 6,969 pcs of the Apollo 11 with little issue with the new 3861 movement. No long queues and people got their watches within six months.. Now Omega drips these out over years, making many people pay for them upon ordering, making them believe these are difficult to make. Just marketing and game playing by the new Omega.
A lot of it is strategic marketing and production by Omega for sure, but I wouldn't discount the design of the watch itself. There's just a lot to like about it, front and back. Compare it to the 60th Bond, Omega is slowly drip feeding those to the market too but in the gray market they're only going for +20-30%

Both designs are equally beautiful in my eyes, but the Speedmaster is literally iconic. Speedies, and by Speedies I specifically mean the Moonwatch and NASA used variants, have always commanded a premium over Seamasters.

Retail is $10.6k and I'm seeing gray listing at mostly $17-19k. That's still +60-80% but yes better than a year ago.

·I'm seeing some go for high 14s and low 15s, so still 35%+...
Sounds reasonable and do-able if you poke enough people with old listings, some may be itching to unload the snoopy at this point.
I'm still holding out for a call from my OB...

·I can imagine how frustrating it is waiting for your dream-watch. However I find that if you're patient, polite, and stay in touch with your local Omega Boutique, your patience will be rewarded.

I should note that I secured a 321EW from my local OB after a brief 3-month wait with zero buy history. They earned my loyalty after that transaction and the other watches followed shortly thereafter.

Is it possible that the SA pegged you correctly as a future high spender? I imagine they can tell who has the means and desire to buy a lot of watches vs people who may just buy that 321 or Snoopy or whatever and never buy again.
