Yes you read that correctly, after just shy of 5 years on the waiting list I have my new Rolex Submariner 124060. I'd put my name down on the list back in late 2017 just a few days before my son was born, and I finally picked it up last week. I didn't have to buy any other watches and I paid retail price. Now I'm not sure why I was finally allocated one (and whether the impending global recession may be giving Rolex second thoughts about restricting supply), but I did go in to the Boutique every six months to follow up and ensure my name was still on the list. I think they were also trying to suss out whether I was a flipper or not.

Was it worth the wait? Yes it was, absolutely. I know Rolex gets a lot of flak regarding supply, service etc, but I have to say for me, the 124060 is a great watch and wears really well on my wrist. Now I'm sure not many people will be prepared to wait such a long time for a watch, but I was prepared to wait and I'm glad the watch lived up to my expectations.

I presume your purchase price was that listed 5 years ago?

Lol, unfortunately no, that would have been too much to ask!

I'm incredibly impatient but did just today put my name on for a Speedmaster calibre 321. While I hope it doesn't take longer than a year, who knows? I have to applaud your resilience (and persistence for that matter!). Hope you wear it in good health!

Thank you, I was determined to not pay ridiculous prices on the second hand market. Looking forward to seeing your 321 when you get it!

Hey hey, congrats. That’s a lifer right there. I know the feeling. I waited 3 years for another ss watch. I can honestly say the “torture” makes me appreciate it way more. My SA wasn’t playing silly games, simply production constraints and I realized I am not as handsome as grandma said I am.

Great Watches. But I only stick to vintage , because why on Earth did Rolex squeeze xxx times the name Rolex engraved on the Rehaut? To me that is the opposite to class and timeless elegance.
