After some 20 years, I finally get the watch I really wanted!

Some 20 years ago, I tore this ad out of a National Geographic and said to myself that I would get this watch when I grew up:

But as tends to happen, when I was eventually in a position to buy an expensive watch, I listened to all the hype about newer Seamasters, Speedmasters, Planet Oceans, and even sport Rolex models. I kept buying other watches that looked better on paper and were more popular on the various forums.

Well, enough with that nonsense! Today, my childhood grail watch has finally arrived!

Maybe if I would have just started with this watch, I would have scratched the proverbial itch and been done with buying watches altogether after just this one... oh well, I couldn't be more happy and excited right now 馃榿

Some truth to the statement: "The most expensive watch you'll ever buy is the one you bought instead of the one you really wanted" You finally got there, enjoy!

Congrats OP, looks like it is in a pristine condition!
Sounds very much like my story too. Quite curious what you will do next, my interest in watches has shrinked down once I got "the Grails of my childhood".

If there is a chance, that you are able to put that advertisement on a flatbed scanner and send to me in a PM, I would be eternally grateful. Here is a photo of mine.

2531.80 and 2220.80 are my favourite Seamaster, classic style and very cool.
Congrats on your purchase

Congratulations!!
I have a similar story to share about the Conny with the gold brick bracelet. When I was a teenager, I looked through my parents' old "DU" books (some kind of art books) from the 50ies and 60. There, I saw some ads for an Omega Constellation with these gold brick bracelets. I said to myself: one day, I will have such an Omega with this kind of gold bracelet.
And, a couple of weeks ago, my dream came true!
Here is one of the ads. I know, I know, it's not the exact same Conny and not the exact same bracelet. But it was the style of bracelet that I became fond of.

We must be about the same age, as I remember this as well growing up.
That watch, even though the Quartz is my childhood dream, but I'm still waiting... One day, I'm sure!
Enjoy your new watch!
