I Can Only Keep One…Help Me Decide!

I was in your position a few months back. I had a 2018 SMP, and my FOIS, along with a few others, a Pelagos and MM300 LE.

I ended up keeping the FOIS. It's such an interesting and rewarding piece, and for me the Speedy is the chrono I find myself coming back to again for its design and wearability, whereas I found myself diving less and less with the SMP and more often with the others -- plenty of iconic divers in the sea, including some wonderful examples that are well-made and affordable, but the Speedy is its own niche, love it or disdain it.

So for me its the 1861 -- but they're both terrific . Either makes a fine one-luxury watch collection.

I agree that the SMP is the best value of the two. I would hate to find myself in a position to have to choose between the two. I personally find the 1861 the least interesting of all Speedmasters. It’s probably the easiest to turn into cash quickly without a loss. And there are always going to be plenty of interesting Speedies available if you decide you want one later on; you’ll probably just pay more for it.

I never could understand why somebody would reach out to complete strangers asking them what to do. Only YOU can make the decision in which watch speaks to you. Sit in a comfortable chair, think about each watch and make your decision.

Sell them both and buy a $1-1500 Seiko. If it's a money issue 😉

Hello all!

I have a dilemma that I need help with.

I currently have two modern Omegas, a Speedmaster Professional 1861 Hesalite and an SMPc 41mm in blue. For reasons I won’t get into, I only have room in my collection for one luxury timepiece, and I need to get rid of one of the aforementioned pieces.

I currently wear both about equally, so that doesn’t help my decision. I work in healthcare, but have a desk job, so both are plenty durable and suitable for the job. I just can’t seem to edge one out over the other!

Which would you choose to sell if you had to? I absolutely do not have the option to keep both, unfortunately.

Thanks!
Sell the speedy, keep the SMPc. Ultimately, this is a subjective issue that only you can answer.

Was one of the watches a gift, or a timepiece that represents a certain milestone? Does one wear better than the other? Only you can answer these important questions!

Try and keep them both, you will regret selling one of them.

I cant decide either.

But realistically, if you want maximum financial gain then you will get more for the Speedy.

This. If things are tight, get rid of both of them.

Edit:

Not saying that’s the case here, but in a lot of cases…it’s people just looking for someone to tell them what they want to hear.

If i had to keep only 1 piece of my whole collection, that would be the Speedmaster. I can't compare it with the SMP.

You can also spend an amount of 50$ in order to get a square G-shock 5600, which will cover tough activities and swimming.
