I can’t imagine only owning one watch. I think I was ten years old the last time I owned only one. If I forced myself to answer this question a few years ago, I would have picked this: Now, I think my choice would be this one: If you could only keep one watch that you already own, which one would it be?
Damn. Four Rolexes in a row ON OMEGA FORUM! Somebody wanna keep a UG, Longines, Seiko (god forbid) or maybe an Omega maybe? The shame [Edit: whew, at least you added an Omega as a runner up]
Honestly ... very little beats a Rolex sports watch as an all rounder. Don’t own a modern Seamaster though.
68 transitional Speedy. Bought ignorantly years ago when looking for a birth watch. Great deal. But how I wish I was born in '59
I don’t think the faces of the modern Rolex sport watches are nearly as attractive as many other manufacturers. If it’s one watch, I gotta love the face a lot. Not even their new Daytona does that for me. The last Rolex sport watch whose face compelled me was the 1016 Explorer.
I politely disagree, the ceramic Daytona is the only modern watch I wear. It’s not bulky like many new Omega and Rolex sports models and has that iconic lineage.
"If you could only keep one watch..." You never said it had to be mine, I know of a few of the other OF watches I would like to keep
There's a shit load of Rolex, considering this is an Omega site. If I could only have one .... It's one of my favourites but that's not the reason. It's simply the best all-round. It's still waterproof; it's incredibly accurate; it's going to be able to pull off a beach and a boardroom ...m and I can still use the bezel to time my coffee, even if it isn't a chronograph.
Great.... the dreaded "One Watch" question. EDIT: if any of us did only have one watch, we wouldn't be members of a watch collecting forum.
I've been pondering again on this. I only approached it as having the right to retain an off shore entity with an ALM controller by which I maintain the N+1 collection.
Just tonight I was looking through my watch photos folder and pretty shocked to be honest how many have been and gone, a few regrets but most I was happy to own and then move on. This is the longest standing survivor though and I'm pretty sure if I had to drop to one I could happily live with this, against the grain from all the posh watches that have and will be posted but what can I say, it's my favourite.
Nice. I think you dread the question because you know in your heart of hearts that your one watch should be a Speedmaster.
