I can’t find this bracelet anywhere - anyone know what it is?

Hi all. First post, tho’ long time vintage omega owner (first was my father’s 503, gold cap, bought from a Congolese warlord in Katanga in 1962 / but that’s another story…).

I recently bought what is also probably 1962, 503 Silver. I love it. But I’m also really intrigued by the bracelet. It’s not BOR, obviously, but I can’t find anything like it. It has the Omega logo, and a really interesting, very smooth, ratchet closure system. But as I said, I’ve not seen this bracelet style, nor the ratchet system anywhere else. Can anyone shine a light? I don’t for a second think it’s original, but it is very well made, heavy, and I’m not finding anything like it on bastions of ersatz stuff like Etsy…

Hello and welcome,

This bracelet is more commonly seen with the later style of clasp ref 8260 / No. 50 end links on 1960s examples (plenty on google)

Your example is an earlier and more uncommon one from the 1950s before they changed the clasp from the sliding type or numbered the end links. It looks all correct. It is usually suggested jewellers had a variety of bracelets on hand and a customer could pick one they liked, he might of had it in the store for years etc. Nothing to say it didn't start life with the watch despite a slight age difference but you can never really prove it either way - I'd just enjoy wearing it! 😀

They’re unusual but show up often enough. Really good looking bracelet imo, I wouldn’t mind having one.

Oh wow - I’m surprised! Thought it was a (high quality) fake as I haven’t seen that type of link (is that the correct term) not closure, despite some quite obsessive searching….

Thanks so much Sharp and Davidt. I’ll keep an eye out to see if other examples come up. And yes (to Davidt, it really is rather beautiful. I have a BoR and was thinking I might swap out, but as this is the real deal… yay!)

(Edit: plus thanks for the welcome!)

I believe that it’s known as a peanut bracelet. It’s legit.

It looks more like an NSA bracelet to me. (for Omega, of course)
