Hello all

This is not another ' uncle watch' thread but more like a rescue thread... One Guy at work showed me this and told me that he will melt the case of this watch... So hopefully he will not if the watch is valuable enough... So I did some research and I am quite surprised about what I found...is it really a 3-4 k watch even if quartzzzzzzzz? ( A screw is missing in the back...) size is 30 mm whit out crown... Case is 18k white gold...Any though or expert of this brand...? I am absolutely not a cartier lover... But I have to Confess that this one as a nice looking style...
Thanks for your help...

I'm not sure if this one is genuine but keep in mind that there are plenty of Cartier fakes out there especially quartzes...

Quick search on Chrono 24 ... If not a fake ... Might be worth more than gold value.

From what I read at one point, the Santos is one of the most hard to tell fakes out there - authenticating it could be difficult. You have to ask yourself when holding it - does it feel heavy for its size? The back isn't particularly "good" looking, which indicates to me that it is likely a fake.

Take a look at this listing for one on Tourneau - the engravings on the back are much cleaner.

Wow - Miyota quartz. Yeah, that there is what we call a fairly bad fake. The Santos reps that are good are signed movements too from what I've heard.

Nothing sadder looking than a cheap quartz movement.

You might have to take that to a Cartier boutique for authentication.
I will certainly give the watch back to the proud owner for sure... And advise him for a service at cartier😀

Engraving on a fairly new Cartier doesn't wear off like that. That's not even one of the better fakes I've seen.

Terrible fake! For sure, give it back! I just hope for your sake that he doesn't actually believe it is genuine, and insist you replace this fake with the real thing!

No no don't worry. I just explained him it is fake. He was quite surpised because this Watch comes from an old wowan that passed away few month ago a let this Watch to his familly...

Fake are everywhere... be aware 😀

Cartier usually do a pretty decent job with their movement finishes...

Quite different from the example above...
