I’ve wondered about this for a while...

Just to put my mind at ease, is there any reason to not buy the watch because of this? I guess in the future I could always have the fix you outlined performed correct? thank you Archer!!

Hard to say really. Unless you know what the issue really is, it's difficult to say what would be required to properly correct it.

OK, I'll rephrase - in case of two part regulator, position of regulator arm is purely cosmetic.

In a sense, but centering the regulator is a sign of good workmanship, no matter if it's a one piece or two piece.

But that aside, it's not really relevant to your initial points. Again your watchmaker was correct in watches with two piece regulators. In fact most watchmakers, myself included, don't really use the other adjustment if we can simply adjust the regulating pins. But in this context, obviously it's more complicated than that, because this is a one piece design so your watchmakers comments really don't apply in this case.

Cheers, Al

oh dear. I am not a watchmaker so please excuse my two piece regulator comment on one piece regulator photo. I agree with my watchmaker tho

Hi everybody!
I’ve always kind of been under the impression that (sorry I don’t know the right terms) but the regulator adjustment for the balance should be somewhat in the middle when serviced and running properly. The pic included here is from the omega enthusiast so I fully trust that it is serviced very well and professionally.
However, said lever is buried to one side...
Does this mean there is an inherent problem with the watch or it’s at the end of its life in any way?...
thanks so much for any responses, I love this resource for questions 😀
And yes I will ask him as well I just like a large breadth of opinions

I find many watches said to be serviced were not actually serviced. Some had been dunked and swished while others had surfaces cleaned and that was about it. A young enthusiast in Chicago ( He may be on this forum.) sold me a cal 321 Speedmaster several years ago that he said was serviced. He claimed he had a guy in Ohio who did his work. Upon disassembling, it was clear there was no recent lubrication, but there was old gunk and dirt, along with worn parts that should have been replaced and a filthy old mainspring. So, don't believe everyone who says they had service performed. Some may be passing along what they were told by a previous owner. Some are just not being honest.

Can I just take this opportunity to thank you, @Archer. The generosity with which you share your knowledge is very much appreciated. You give so much time to educating people on this forum and your points are always extremely well explained. Even a complete idiot like me can understand what you are telling us.

You’re a mensch.
